Tying Recipe
  • Hook: Straight shank saltwater
  • Eyes: Beadchain
  • Body: Pearl diamond braid
  • Collar: Shrimp and Chartreuse DNA holo fusion
  • Legs: Crazy legs
  • Use any saltwater hook you like
  • Dumbbell eyes can be used if you need to get the fly deeper
  • Use any legs you like
  • You can use the DNA fibers to wrap the body
  • Try different sizes and colors to imitate the bait in your area
  • Tie some in pink

The DNA fibers simply work because they flow and add a level of depth to the fly. The gotcha is a tried and true bonefish pattern, it is probably the second most popular bonefish fly in the world. DNA fibers allow for more flash and texture than the original craft fur.

Fish this fly the same way you would fish the original gotcha. (also see the bonefish gotcha page)

Cast about a foot and a half in front of cruising bonefish or about 6″ in front of tailing bonefish with a very light presentation. Let the fly sink to the bottom, when the fish get close to the fly give a couple of quick short pops to imitate fleeing prey.
