Tying Recipe
  • Hook: Straight shank streamer
  • Tail: 3 colors of marabou
  • Rib: Copper brassie wire
  • Body 1: Peacock hurl
  • Body 2: Brown hackle
  • Head: Bead head
  • Use any hook you like to match the targeted species
  • Any marabou will work
  • Use any wire you have, if you don’t have wire tinsel will work
  • Use any hackle you have
  • Use peacock chenille or dubbing instead of peacock

  • Add some flash in the tail
  • Add some non-toxic wire wrap to get the fly deeper

This fly has a great profile that allows it to imitate many different types of prey. It might look like a baitfish, cased caddis, stonefly, mayfly, or leech. Nobody knows and the fish don’t care! This is a great all around streamer to keep in your back pocket for those times you’re not sure what to throw. The marabou tail and the hackle create a great profile and movement in the water.

Cast this fly deep through runs for trout, near structure for warmwater species, or to find predatory trout waiting to ambush prey. Do whatever it takes to get this fly to the right level whether it is using a poly leader, sink tip line, or split shot.

This can be a good fly to drift under an indicator. Giving some larger mends to jig the fly can be just as productive as dead drifting.
