The Yellow Humpy floats like a cork because of the materials incorporated into the tying of this fly. Changing out these materials may impede the bug from staying up as it usually would, so sticking to the recipe on this one is you best bet.

The Humpy can come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. The two best colors to always make sure you have on hand are, of course yellow, and red. Having those two in multiple sizes will make for a well rounded collection.

Nothing is more annoying than your dry fly getting sucked under drift after drift. Fortunately with this pattern you wont’t have to worry about such things. This thing floats like a life raft, and could also end up saving your day! The simplicity and natural materials make this bug and instant classic that should have a spot in everyone’s box.

One of the best uses for this fly is a summer time strike indicator. If you tend to fish a nymph rig more often, swap the bobber or yarn for this guy. Who know, a few fish may decide it looks like lunch! This pattern is also a staple in the high country whether it’s lakes or streams. Whichever you use it for make sure you have some ready to go before next summer!
