The BWO Thorax is a classically designed, and tied dry fly that’s hard to top. Staying on track with the recipe for this fly will serve you the best out on the water. Don’t miss out on the BWO hatch of a lifetime, have some of these guys in your box!

This bug is BWO specific, so variations are pretty sparse. You can change up the hackle color if you wish, grizzly might be a nice touch. Other than that, the original pattern is the way to go on this fly. Having some size variations in your box is always a smart move though.

This pattern won’t disappoint when it comes to buoyancy. The trimmed hackle really keep this fly floating high all day long. Along with being very buoyant, every other aspect of this fly is just about as close to a real BWO as you can get! Each part of the bug is measured out to be very similar to the real thing, which is one of the many reasons throwing this bug results in lots of eats.

The BWO Thorax is a great pattern for pickier fish when the BWO’s are coming off in full force. It is best fished alone, and paired with a delicate presentation. Keep your slack line off the water to ensure a solid drift. This pattern is meant to sit high up on the water, so apply floatant as needed.
