These flies are pretty quick to tie and don’t require many materials. I always have a stack of these in my bonefish box and whenever my classic flies don’t work (crazy charlie and gotcha) I tie this on. This fly is not as popular as some but it should be. I’ve made many guides believers in this fly. The hair traps some air giving it a buggy look and helps float the hook point up. The beadchain eyes and the heavy UV cure head get the fly down quick without bulk.
Cast close to tailing or cruising bonefish and keep your line tight. Let it sink to the bottom and when the school comes close to the fly give it short slow strips. One of the keys to bonefishing is knowing when your fly is on the bottom. Try dropping this fly in the water a few times to get an idea of water depth and how long it takes to get down.
