Tying Recipe
  • Hook: Straight shank saltwater
  • Eyes: Black beadchain
  • Body: Pearl ice dub
  • Collar: White and chartreuse arctic fox
  • You can use craft fur instead of arctic fox.

Try adding some rubber legs and flashabou to the fly.

This fly is so simple it proves you don’t need anything complex to catch fish, sometimes the simple flies can work best. The arctic fox flows in the water, pair that with the jigging motion from the beadchain eyes and you’ve got yourself a killer bonefish fly. It rides hook point up thanks to the heavy eyes on the top of the hook.

Cast this fly through bonefish mudding or sight cast to cruising or tailing bonefish. When it hits the water give it a few little strips to get some slack out and let it get down hen give it some short quick strips. If that isn’t working try giving it long slow strips. Varying retrieval speed can change the day, sometimes they will really key in in this fly darting away and others they like to just grab it instead of chase it. In general if it isn’t getting their attention try moving it a little quicker to get a reactionary strike.
