The Best Anglers Never Stop Learning
Tying Video
The Garcia’s Mini Hot is an excellent variation to your basic stimulator; standing out from the crowd can really be productive when it comes to dry flies. Try this in different color schemes for seemingly endless variations. Additionally, other materials like scud backing can be used as an alternate to midge tubing to allow the angler to increase fly durability.
Often out-fishing many other “stimulator-like” patterns, the Garcia’s Mini Hot can really fire up the angler’s arsenal of weapons on the stream. The vibrant colors on the Mini Hot seem to really bring a bounty of fish to the surface in a splashy raid. Additionally, the tubing used to secure the underbody adds a lot of durability compared to other thread and hackle-based patterns. The Garcia’s Mini Hot really excels on the stream because of it’s subtle differences from the patterns other anglers are using. Be sure to pick a few of these bad boys up before your next small stream venture!
The Garcia’s Mini Hot is a strong fly that works great across all of the caddis and stonefly-holding creeks available to anglers. This fly is a fantastic little addition to your box that will consistently bring fish up to your dry flies. Riding high and fairly sturdy, it is possible to fish with the same fly for an entire day trips worth of fishing. A big key to this fly is applying a generous coat of floatant to all of the fibers (note: letting your dry fly absorb floatant for 10-15 minutes before use may yield better results with this fly).
