The Best Anglers Never Stop Learning
Tying Video
This fly mimics a lot of different insects in any given body of water so the variations are up to the angler. Using different color or length rubber legs or a different kind of dubbing for the body could create a buggier look that is effective in high stained water.
The articulated aggravator is primarily used in lakes or ponds for trout, bass, carp and panfish. This fly is extremely buggy and imitates an assortment of different nymphs found in most rivers or lakes. The key benefit this fly has over others is its articulated wiggle tail and extremely buggy/lifelike motion in the water.
The most consistent technique to catch fish with this fly is dead drifting it underneath an indicator. But giving this fly some twitches or strips can prove extremely effective especially when sight fishing to big carp, bass or trout. When fish won’t eat bigger streamers and you can’t seem to find the ticket nymph fishing, tie on an aggravator. Fish this fly like a small streamer and it might just become your new favorite pattern.
