It’s hard to top a goose biot body clad with CDC in multiple places. In fact,it’s not even worth trying to top it! Go ahead and stick as closely with the recipe as possible on this pattern. The fish agree!

You’ll want to decide on the colors you want to tie this fly in based on the types of mayflies in your area, time of year, etc. All the normal considerations should be in play here. Speaking of normal considerations, it would be a smart move to have multiple sizes in each color you chose to tie. Mixing and matching colors is never a bad idea either. You may find the next big thing!

Looking like the real deal is the main attraction here. This is just one of those patterns that you think was flying around before you tied it on. The fish usually seem to agree as well! The material list on this bug is also easy to follow, and find. There really is something to be said for that because dry flies nowadays can get pretty in depth in the fly shop, and at the vise; not to mention your wallet!

Fishing this fly alone will give the angler the most consistent results. It doesn’t really have the integrity to hold a dropper, unless it’s a very small one. Try not to slap it down onto the water like a big hopper. You’ll want more of a flutter down to meet the surface. This pattern is a great choice for any spring creek, or high country destination you may have in mind.
