Tying Recipe
  • Hook: Short shank heavy hook
  • Body: Chenille
  • Collar: Marabou

Tying Tip: I don’t use any glue on my carp flies. Carp can smell and I swear that I have a worse success rate on flies with glue. Especially on a simple fly like this don’t use any glue.

  • Use whatever hook you have
  • Use any chenille
  • Use any marabou you have
  • You can tie in foam with it to keep it floating

The chenille under the marabou helps it stand up and keep some shape. If you just tied the marabou it would become pencil thin. The marabou moves and flows in the water like a piece of grass.

Cast this fly near cruising grass carp. Some very slow strips will ensure that your line is tight, but don’t over do it…. grass can’t swim!
