Sucker’s eggs have a unique look when it comes to the types of eggs that trout like to eat. To make this fly resemble that unique shape and color as much as possible this bug was specifically designed with these materials. For that reason, leaving this fly as it is originally tied is most sound decision.

You can change the colors of this pattern if you wish, but these specific colors represent the color of the sucker’s eggs quite closely. This fly is best left alone for the most part honestly. Do have a few sizes ready to go though.

The Off The Hook Sucker Spawn is a super specific fly, but it will get the trout in a frenzy at the right time of the year. Suckers are a common fish in many trout rivers, and their eggs are a delicacy for the trout. It is a food source that should be taken advantage of without shame. And even if someone thinks there’s shame in it, that’s not your problem!

Fish this fly when the suckers start to spawn, usually in the Springtime. In a nymph rig weighed down by other flies and some split shot is the most effective spot for this pattern. Don’t be surprised when you start to out fish all the other guys with you.
