Tying Video
The No Name Damsel only boasts one substitution. The good news is that most of the other materials are pretty common, and will be useful for other things if you have to buy them.
Head: Olive Ice Dub or Olive Prism Dubbing will do the trick for the head of this fly.
Marabou comes in an endless amount of color options, so be sure to take advantage of that when deciding how you’re going to tie up a few variations of this bug. It’s best to look at the damsels in your area, and take into account the species of fish when deciding on a color scheme. Have a few sizes ready in the dugout too.
Multi species flies should be floating everyone’s boat. This bug will get it done on a reservoir for trout, on a lake for largemouth, on a river for smallies, and in a ditch for carp. There honestly isn’t much more you could ask for out of one fly. No matter what you say your favorite type of species is, you should be tying up a whole slew of these bugs.
With this fly being a jack of all trades, you have to fish it like one too. You can do shallow, right below the surface, or a deep lob with a load of weight. You can also fish it either fast or slow. The only thing that needs to be uniform is the fact that it’s moving. Play around and see what the fish seem to be liking that day!
