Tying Recipe
  • Hook: Straight shank wide gap saltwater hook
  • Tail 1: Bucktail
  • Eyes: Mono eyes
  • Flash: Krystal flash
  • Tail 2: Arctic fox
  • Body 1: Arctic fox
  • Body 2: EP brush
  • Use any hook you like to match the target species
  • You can use any flash you have
  • Craft fur can be substituted for the arctic fox
  • Add some black rubber legs to the tail to make antennae
  • Add some more flash if you want
  • Tie in other colors and sizes to match your fishery
  • Add dumbbell eyes on the top of the hook to get the fly deep

The realistic profile and movement of this fly attracts fish to it. The EP keeps its shape and profile while the arctic fox pulses in the water and creates lifelike movement. The realistic movement makes this a go to pattern on the flats or teasing fish out of the mangroves.

Cast to tailing or cruising fish, make sure you cast enough in front of them to lead them so the fly is at their level when they reach it. Cast to fish laid up in the mangroves and strip it out. Fish often wait for bait to make a mistake like getting to far away from the mangroves. Quick hard strips then short pauses allow this fly to dart backwards and then stop. Fish will eat the fly on the pause. Keep your rod tip low and keep stripping until you feel pressure!
