For a little bit more flash in this pattern, try adding two or three short strands of krystal flash as a tail, or try wrapping a single strand of it up the body candy cane style and locking it in with the wire. For even more of an emerger style pattern, try finding some pink CDC and making a bubble out of the back of the thorax, with the tips protruding out of the front of the thorax towards the eye of the hook.
This is a great variation of a top secret that is a little bit more flashy than the original. This works great in early run off, when the snow melt colors the water, but is still too cool for bigger bugs to start to come out. This results in some thick midge hatches, and the pink wing is a great attractor for trout to eat your fly out of the many naturals that are in the water.
Fish this fly either as the tag off of a euro rig, or the tag behind a lead fly under an indicator. Fish this with the best dead drift that you can get for best results.
