You can use different thread color or z-lon colors to change the flies look and feel easily. I prefer olive, black and orange.

There are two great beneftis from this fly. First is floats high and dry in a variety of waters making it easy and low-maintenance to fish. Secondly, it is impressionistic and generally imitates a ton of different insects. The spent wings make it look crippled, injured or dead and fish seem to consider this easy prey. Easy prey means they’ll eat it more often, in case you didn’t put that together, and that’s what we’re after!

I speak often of fishing 2 fly set ups, but this fly can stand well on its own.  You can fish more than one fly, but sometimes, whether your a beginner, or just not up for the hassle of dealing with two fly set ups, a single fly makes for a good time.

Since you have a single fly on, take advantage of making tight casts to the bank where a two fly rig would snag the point fly. Now you can hit right next to the bank and find some fish tucked against them.
