  • Tie these in large sizes for bass and small sizes for panfish
  • Add weight with a bead or cone head
  • Add some flash in the tail
  • Try adding some white barred legs

Wooly bugger variants are very popular because they just simply catch fish. This is a popular color combination because the grizzly hackle is great to imitate movement, legs, gills, or other little parts of trout food. The marabou tail flows in the current and is an eye catcher because of the color contrast.
Tie some smaller sizes for panfish. They work very well for small bream and bass in warm water scenarios. These also work great for trout or larger bass.

The weight in this fly helps it get a little deeper, utilize this and get the fly to the fish’s eye level. Use a floating line for bream or panfish in shallow water. Small bass, panfish, and trout can be found cruising shallow shoals and rocky points looking for a snack.

If you tie up some larger sizes of these and put them on a sink tip line you can get them deep to larger fish waiting for a meal.

Utilize different retrieves with this fly. In faster current use a slower retrieve, in slower or no current you can use a faster retrieve.

Cast near logs, stumps, rocks, and under tree limbs to find hungry fish
